Gameplay

Sekhmet's bonuses improve the player's archers, siege weapons, and myth units. She grants Chariot Archers extra range with the Bone Bow, allowing them to out-range most other units and buildings, making them even stronger. Slings of the Sun gives Slingers a bonus against infantry, although Chariot Archers are still superior against them in this regard. Furthermore, the crush attack of myth and siege units can be boosted via Force of the West Wind, which also unlocks Catapults in the Heroic Age, allowing for a more destructive Heroic Age army.

Sekhmet's myth unit, the Scarab, is one of the best building-wreckers in the game. Crimson Linen allows all of the player's myth units, especially Scarabs, to regenerate health while attacking enemy units, making them last longer. This makes Scarabs more durable considering their increased max hit points of 900, compared to the original game's 670. Her god power, Citadel, can be used to help defend a neutral area, but is most significant for the population bonus it grants.

Her bonuses synergize quite nicely with Bast (only possible under Ra), who provides the Sphinx myth unit that also does decent damage against buildings, as well as the Eclipse god power which strengthens all of the player's myth units, including Scarabs. If Set players pick Thoth for the Mythic Age, his Phoenix myth unit can support the already-powerful Scarabs in destroying buildings. Furthermore, his Valley of the Kings technology makes massing Chariot Archers even easier as long as a Pharaoh is empowering the Migdol Stronghold that is currently training units.

Mythology

"The lion-headed wife of Ptah was a goddess of war and the heat of the desert. Her name means "powerful." She rose to prominence during the second millennium BC, when Egypt engaged in many wars extending its domain and was a leading power in the world. The Egyptians of the era readily worshipped a goddess who was a fierce hunter. Together with Bast, the cat goddess, Sekhmet destroyed Apep, the underworld serpent that attempted to swallow Ra. In one myth, she is sent to wage war on those who thought Ra was getting feeble. She was so effective in spreading ruin that Ra had to trick her into drinking a lake of what appeared to be blood, but was actually beer dyed with pomegranate juice. Sekhmet became intoxicated and humanity was saved."
