Strengths

Isis' bonuses are very broad, leaving the player with a lot of scope to develop their own strategy.

All technologies are cheaper, making savings across the board, but especially with the military since Egyptian units are upgraded individually. Isis' god power and myth technology are also economic as they provide extra gold and food respectively. Isis' Town Centers provide +3 population, allowing for either a larger army or labor pool.

One of Isis' most formidable powers is that Monuments cancel out god powers within a wide radius. If an Isis player's monuments are spaced out properly, opponents will not be able to use any god powers in her territory, hampering their attacks. This can be further enhanced with player-controlled or allied Hesperides Trees being placed close to the Monuments. For scouting, Isis players mostly have to rely on the Priest, who is poor at this job. However, her Obelisks are cheaper and are summoned much more quickly than those of other Egyptian civilizations, which helps to offset this a little.

Unlike Ra, Isis has access to Nephthys as a minor god as well as Osiris. If both are worshiped and players research the City of the Dead myth technology, their Son of Osiris will receive a significant boost in HP, making it one of the most powerful hero units in the game.

Weaknesses

Of the three Egyptian major gods, Isis is the only one who does not provide military bonuses. Therefore, players will have to rely on regular technologies or myth technologies provided by her minor god roster to improve their military units. Other than that, Isis simply has the typical weaknesses of an Egyptian civilization such as Laborers that build slowly and the need to upgrade military units individually, the latter being slightly less of a weakness than the other major gods due to cost reduction.

Mythology

"The daughter of the earth god Geb and the sky goddess Nut, Isis became the mother goddess of Egypt. When Osiris, her brother and husband, inherited the rule of Egypt, she worked together with him to bring civilization to the Nile Valley. She taught cloth making and curing the sick, and introduced the concept of marriage. She ruled Egypt wisely while Osiris traveled the world spreading civilization elsewhere. Isis was able to resurrect Osiris after he had been killed and dismembered by Set. She assisted at Osiris' embalming in preparation for his journey to his new kingdom in the land of the dead, thereby helping to create the Egyptian rituals of burial. She secreted her son by Osiris, Horus, until he was able to seek revenge in a long contest that eventually saw the end of Set. The magic of Isis was a very powerful aid in attaining a favorable judgment from Osiris. Her magic abilities improved greatly when she took advantage of Ra's agedness to trick him into revealing his name, giving her access to some of his power. She is often portrayed suckling the child Horus."
