Hera in legend is the queen of the gods and wife of Zeus. In Age of Mythology, she is a Mythic Age Greek minor god only accessible to worshipers of Zeus.

Myth Unit

Medusa	A ranged unit whose special attack turns an enemy unit to stone.

Gameplay

Hera improves myth units. Her myth unit, the Medusa, is adequate at ranged support, but has a powerful special attack that deals 400 divine damage and is especially destructive to a group of tough and expensive myth units, or elite human units such as War Elephants. Any units that survive the 400 divine damage will become immobilized for a short time, becoming vulnerable to follow-up attacks. However, Titans, non-myth naval units, and heroes are immune to petrification.

Hera's Monstrous Rage technology makes myth units faster overall, while Face of the Gorgon gives Medusai more range and a shorter special ability recharge time, allowing them to petrify enemies more quickly. Argive Patronage allows the player's Fortresses to periodically spawn free Myrmidons, infantry units unique to Zeus that deal divine damage, which outright ignores armor.

Hera's god power, Lightning Storm, can almost completely destroy an enemy army, leaving opponents very vulnerable. This is especially helped by the fact that Lightning Storm's power increases towards the end of its duration. Lightning Storm can be used to eliminate any resistance when destroying an enemy town, to turn the tide in a heated battle, or to guard against a sudden surprise attack.

She bore Zeus many children, including Ares, but also was tested by his incessant infidelity. She punished her rivals and their offspring, and even Zeus feared her wrath at times. She represented the ideal of married womanhood, being beautiful, stately, and very clever."

Before Retold, Hera and Hel were the only two minor gods that were available to only one major god. In Retold, Hera is the only non-DLC minor god who is available to just one major god.
