Age up text

Theia is a Heroic Age minor goddess for the Atlanteans in Age of Mythology. She is available to worshipers of Oranos and Gaia.

Attributes

God Power

Name Description
Hesperides Spawns the Hesperides Tree, which spawns 2 Dryads near it when summoned, can train up to 5 total Dryads, and heals nearby myth units. The tree can be captured by other players.

Technology

Name Description
Poseidon's Secret Increases cavalry speed by +10% and reduces their training and heroizing cost by 15%.
Lance of Stone Contarius and Contarius Hero +15% attack. Their attacks slow targets by 30% for 2 seconds.
Prophetic Sight Oracles generate +10% favor and have +10% full capacity multiplier. They also reveal the user interface and build queue of enemies in their Line of Sight.
Daughters of the Sea Nereids +30% speed and -50% ability cooldown.

Myth Unit

Name Description
Stymphalian Bird Flying unit that can only be attacked by ranged attacks, and can rain sharp feathers upon its enemies which cause bleed damage.
Dryad She is a melee myth unit costing no favor and population space who is produced at the Hesperides Tree, with a build limit of 5 per owned Hesperides Tree.

Gameplay

Her god power Hesperides can be used twice for no cost, granting access to 10 Dryads, which are serviceable melee myth units without a favor cost. The Tree also heals nearby myth units, serving as a very good defense. The trees can be summoned in the frontlines to reinforce assaults on the enemy quickly, but this is risky as if the player has to abandon the siege, the Trees can be captured by the enemy. Note that Hesperides Trees can also be captured by allied players.

Her basic myth unit is the Stymphalian Bird, which is a strong flying unit whose attack has a damage-over-time effect. It is strong against units, especially myth units, but not suitable to attack buildings with.

Her improvements focus on cavalry, particular the Contarius and its hero form. She also provides an upgrade to Nereids which increases their movement speed and special attack frequency, making them much better at their role as an anti-myth unit myth unit. Finally, her technology Prohpetic Sight benefits Oracles, enabling them to not only gather more favor, but also see what units and technologies the enemy has queued up. The player can view this by having the target building (or even a unit capable of producing other units, like the Pharaoh of Set) in the Line of Sight of an Oracle, and then clicking on the target. The command and information panel will show what the enemy has access to and has queued up, as if it was the player's own building.

Overall, Theia grants access to three strong myth units for different terrain types (Dryads for land, Stymphalian Birds for air, and upgraded Nereids for water), stronger and faster cavalry, a myth unit area healer in the form of the Hesperides Tree, and Oracles with faster favor generation with improved espionage skills, making her a very lucrative pick as a minor goddess. She lacks any economy focused myth technologies, benefiting rushing rather than booming.

Mythology

"A Titan, Theia was married to her brother Hyperion, by whom she gave birth to three gods: Helios (the sun), Eos (the dawn), and Selene (the moon). She was the goddess of sight. Since the ancient Greeks believed that sight was a beam emitted by the eyes in a manner similar to the sun's rays or the moon's rays, she was thought to endow gold, silver, and gems with their luster and beauty. Her children were all associated with light."
