Thoth is an ibis-headed Egyptian Mythic Age minor god in Age of Mythology. He is available to worshipers of Set and Isis.

Gameplay
Thoth's bonuses are mostly offensive, though one is economic. First, his Tusks of Apedemak technology makes War Elephants deal more damage, cost less, and take up less population space, allowing them to be massed more easily. This pairs especially well with Valley of the Kings, which allows empowered Migdol Strongholds to spawn double any units being trained. These improvements allow the player to create a huge army of War Elephants that can destroy anything that gets in their way.
Thoth's myth unit, the Phoenix, is highly powerful against both units and buildings. If slain, it can be reborn, provided enemies do not attack and destroy the egg.
Economically, Thoth improves the gather rate of all resources, offsetting the initial Egyptian gathering penalty. This gives the player the option of training fewer Laborers and more military units at maximum population.
Followers of Set who pick Sekhmet for the Heroic Age and Thoth for the Mythic Age will be able to amass large armies of strengthened Chariot Archers. Likewise, two of the Egyptian Classical Age minor gods, Bast (accessible to Isis) and Ptah (accessible to Set), have economic bonuses which synergize nicely with Thoth's economic improvement.
Mythology
"A patron of learning and invention, Thoth was the chief god of the city of Khmun and a divine scribe. He served as a loyal advocate and supporter of Osiris, defending him against charges by Set, helping Isis resurrect him as lord of the underworld, helping to keep Horus hidden from Set until the son reached adulthood, and then helping Horus regain his inheritance. Thoth then assisted Osiris by recording the past deeds of all who sought to enter the Underworld. He read the scales when the hearts of those seeking entrance were weighed versus the feather of truth. Thoth grew in importance as people sought his help in proving their innocence at judgment time. The priests of Thoth enhanced his reputation as a magician and claimed he had access to spells that gave him domination over the natural world and the gods themselves. Thoth is usually depicted with the head of an ibis or baboon.
