Sentinel is a Greek god power in Age of Mythology that is available to worshipers of Hades since the Archaic Age. When invoked on the player's or an ally's Town Center, Village Center, or Fortress-type building, it creates up to five Sentinels (owned by the player invoking the god power) around that building.
Underworld Passage is a Greek Heroic Age god power in Age of Mythology that is available to worshipers of Apollo. When invoked, it creates two portals, called Underworld Passages, between two locations on the map. Units entering one are instantly transported to the other. Either end can be repaired by a Villager, but if one end is destroyed, the other one will also automatically destroy itself.

Gameplay
Gameplay
There are many applications for this god power. If the player has spread their forces too thin, the Underworld Passage allows armies to be transported quickly to wherever they are needed. It can also be used to bypass an enemy's defenses and attack them where they are vulnerable. However, the player should be careful when placing it since if one of the Portals is destroyed the power is forfeited.
This god power combined with the 20% attack bonus of Hades' defensive structures makes Hades players very difficult to rush. After the player has reached Classical Age and upgraded their starting towers to Guard Towers, they will have five Sentinels, four towers, and their Town Center firing on any attackers.

On maps like Archipelago, Team Migration, River Nile, and Islands, the Underworld Passage can become a very efficient and secure way to transport units between two islands or crossing the river, thus negating the need for Transport Ships. On maps like Jotunheim, where the map is divided by mountains and where there are only narrow chokepoints from where the players can invade each other's positions, Underworld Passage can be used for a sneak attack.
The Sentinels become less relevant as the game progresses, as they are limited in number and easily destroyed by any siege weapons that can get close enough. In Retold, reusing Sentinels is relatively cheap and they can make for some extra firepower, not just to defend Town Centers and Village Centers, but also in offense by using them on forward Fortress-type buildings.

It should be noted that Titans cannot pass through the Underworld Passage. Also, depending on the map and placement of each end of the Underworld Passage, Azure Dragons and War Salamanders can either choose to go into the Underworld Passage or bypass it altogether due to being amphibious myth units. If the Azure Dragons and War Salamanders are made to cross the body of water instead, the player will have more room for units to transport through the Underworld Passage.
In team games, if the Hades player is in the pocket position (not directly adjacent to the enemy) then it may be advisable for them to invoke this god power on an ally on the flanks, to provide protection from the enemy flanks' early aggression, rather than on themselves.

Sentinels are ranged fortifications that will fire at any enemies within their considerable range. In Retold, they are buildings, and are affected by building technologies, and no longer by unit- or archer-specific technologies.

Place one end in your town and the other end in an ally's town to allow quick reinforcements and speedy retreats. Use it to circumvent walls and defenses or even place one end deep in enemy territory for a sneak attack. A pair of Underworld Passages are created when the eponymous god power is invoked. These are regular structures that can be targeted and destroyed by enemies. The player or their allies can garrison their units in one Underworld Passage, which instantly transports and ungarrisons them at the other connected Underworld Passage. Further, rally points can be set at each Underworld Passage to move ungarrisoned units to a particular location or target object.

Any unit with a recharging special ability bar loses all charge when passing through the Underworld Passage. If one of a pair of Underworld Passages is destroyed, the other one falls as well. Flying units and Titans cannot enter an Underworld Passage; only other land units may.

Trivia
* Before Retold, while Sentinels were immobile, they could still be moved by god powers that cause knockback, such as Shockwave and Meteor.
* Before Retold, while they were units, Sentinels did not have a garrison command, as they were meant to be immobile statues. Despite this, Sentinels near garrisonable buildings (like Fortresses) could be selected with other units, and when a command is issued to the group to garrison in that building, Sentinels also got garrisoned. When ungarrisoned, they dropped out on their pedestal.
* In Retold, the Sentinel is the only god-power-summoned building which is affected by Deconstruction.
