Villagers are usually used to gather resources to fund the player's many technological upgrades and unit creation in addition to building and repairing structures.

Assigning Villagers to Temples will slowly generate favor. The more Villagers are praying at a Temple, the more favor is generated, though the benefit decreases with each additional Villager.

Villagers can also gain favor by praying at Temples. However, the efficiency of favor generation is lower with each Villager (across all Temples). For example, one Villager generates 6 favor per minute, five Villagers with a -4.6% penalty generate 21 (25 for Zeus) favor per minute, and twenty-five Villagers with a -17.6% penalty generate 50 (55 for Zeus) favor per minute.

Like all [[Greeks|Greek]] heroes, Jason is strong against myth units, but can tackle most units on the battlefield. As the first available hero for Zeus, he is critical in fighting off myth units early in the game, and for poaching early Relics.

King Aeetes of Colchis demanded that Jason fulfill a number of tasks to obtain the fleece, including plowing a field with fire-breathing oxen, sowing the teeth of a dragon in a field and fighting the army that rose up from them, and finally defeating the dragon that guarded the fleece itself. With the fleece in hand, Jason fled with Aeetes' daughter Medea and had many adventures on the return journey. Medea engineered the death of King Pelias, fulfilling the old prophecy. When their marriage failed, Medea took a terrible revenge, killing their sons as well as Jason's new bride Creusa.
