"Njord causes Raiding Cavalry to produce Gold in addition to Favor while fighting enemy units."
In-game description

Vikings is a Norse myth technology in Age of Mythology: Retold, available to research at the Great Hall if the Heroic Age is reached through Njord. It grants the Vikings ability to Raiding Cavalry, causing them to generate gold when fighting.

Effects

  • Raiding Cavalry: Generates 1 gold every 8 damage dealt (except against walls).

History

"The fearsome warriors of the Viking Age were predominantly farmers, merchants, and craftsmen who took to raiding to supplement their income. However, as the power of local chieftains and kings grew, these raids became more organized and were conducted on a larger scale farther afield. Elites gradually assumed religious functions in addition to their political ones, which led to an increase in the prevalence of warrior cults, such as those of Odin."
In-game compendium

Trivia

  • Despite benefiting Raiding Cavalry, it does not appear in the "Applied Upgrades" section of its in-game help.
