The Longhouse is a Norse building in Age of Mythology. All Classical Age Norse military units can be trained at this building (note that the Hersir, the Norse hero, can also be trained at the Temple) and where technologies that improve them are researched. |
|||
Unlike with the Egyptian Barracks, the Longhouse remains useful into the Heroic Age, when Hill Fort units become available. |

History
"Because of the harsh climate, the Norse were forced indoors much of the year. Therefore their winter combat training and weapons practice took place in large communal buildings called Longhouses. These often doubled as meeting halls, communal food halls, and craft workshops."

Trivia
- Whilst the Longhouse is an accurate name, a more accurate name would be a Mead Hall.
- The Longhouse was originally planned to only train infantry, such as the Berserk, Hirdman, and Bondi, as the Throwing Axeman was originally an archer unit, not an infantry unit.
