Like all [[Greeks|Greek]] heroes, Jason is strong against myth units, but can tackle most units on the battlefield. As the first available hero for Zeus, he is critical in fighting off myth units early in the game, and for poaching early Relics.

Jason ordered the construction of the great ship Argo and gathered a host of heroes, thereafter known as the Argonauts, to accompany him. After a number of adventures, including the first passage of the Symplegades (the Bosphorus), the Argonauts arrived at Colchis, believed to be somewhere on the edge of the Black Sea. King Aeetes of Colchis demanded that Jason fulfill a number of tasks to obtain the fleece, including plowing a field with fire-breathing oxen, sowing the teeth of a dragon in a field and fighting the army that rose up from them, and finally defeating the dragon that guarded the fleece itself. With the fleece in hand, Jason fled with Aeetes' daughter Medea and had many adventures on the return journey. Medea engineered the death of King Pelias, fulfilling the old prophecy. When their marriage failed, Medea took a terrible revenge, killing their sons as well as Jason's new bride Creusa. Jason was killed many years later by a timber that fell from the Argo.|In-game compendium}}

* Jason's in-game model wears only one sandal. This is a reference to the story of King Pelias, mentioned in the Mythology section, who was told by an oracle to "beware of the man wearing a single sandal". Jason lost a sandal while helping [[Hera]], who was disguised as an old woman, cross a river.

"Villagers gather resources and construct buildings."
In-game description

The Villager is a worker unit in Age of Mythology: Retold that is only available to the Greeks. Villagers are essential in gathering the resources with which to develop the player's army and build structures to expand your empire. A strong empire has many Villagers. In times of emergency, Villagers are fair fighters, but they are best left to what they do well - gathering resources and constructing buildings.

The player can only have up to 100 Villagers at any given time regardless of the population cap status.

Tasks

Villagers are usually used to gather resources to fund the player's many technological upgrades and unit creation in addition to building and repairing structures.

Assigning Villagers to Temples will slowly generate favor. The more Villagers are praying at a Temple, the more favor is generated, though the benefit decreases with each additional Villager.

Gather Rates

Villagers gather resources from different sources at a different speed. The table below shows all gathering rates in descending order.

Role Resource Source Gathering Rate per second Gathering Rate per minute
Hunter File:Infobox-food.png Food Hunt 1 60
Herdsman File:Infobox-food.png Food Livestock   Chicken 0.9 54
Forager File:Infobox-food.png Food Berry Bush 0.8 48
Farmer File:Infobox-food.png Food Farm 0.7 42
Lumberjack File:Infobox-wood.png Wood Tree 1 60
Lumberjack File:Infobox-wood.png Wood Gaia Tree 1.05 63
Miner File:Infobox-gold.png Gold Gold Mine 0.85 51

Favor Generation

Villagers can also gain favor by praying at Temples. However, the efficiency of favor generation is lower with each Villager (across all Temples). For example, one Villager generates 6 favor per minute, five Villagers with a -4.6% penalty generate 21 (25 for Zeus) favor per minute, and twenty-five Villagers with a -17.6% penalty generate 50 (55 for Zeus) favor per minute.

Buildings

Villagers can construct the following buildings:
