"Egyptian Migdol Strongholds fire arrows and garrison units. They also train and upgrade powerful mounted units."
In-game description
The Migdol Stronghold (or simply Migdol) is the Fortress-type building for the Egyptians in Age of Mythology. It is a powerful defensive structure where the strongest human soldiers of the Egyptians, all of which are mounted units, can be trained.
Overview
In terms of total resources, it costs less than the Fortress-type buildings of the other civilizations, and is also faster to construct, and also has more hit points. Unlike the other Fortress-type buildings, siege weapons are not trained at the Migdol Stronghold, but at the Siege Works.
History
"Although the ancient Egyptians were largely isolated by expansive deserts, they were still open to attack from the Middle East, the sea, and up the Nile Valley from the south. Where they were vulnerable they built large fortresses. The name Migdol comes from a fortress with attached towers found in northern Egypt near a town thought to have been named Migdol. Other fortresses incorporating similar towers are sometimes characterized as being in the Migdol style."

Trivia
- Migdol, from "mktr", is the Egyptian word for tower. It is related to the Hebrew word magdalah (מגדּלה), also meaning "a tower", from which "Magdalene" was derived.
